This month, on page 24, “Beyond the Surface,” we talked with South Jersey pageant women who insist their competitions are far more than skin deep. While many contestants tout the financial and educational benefits of pageants, scandals like that of the ex-Miss Pennsylvania 2012 Sheena Monnin accusing the Miss USA pageant of fixing the results this past June leave some doubting the sincerity of these competitions. Are pageants a classic form of self discovery for women, or are they only about glitz and beauty? Tell your own story by visiting SouthJersey.com’s Voice and Vent section and answering:
“Do you think pageants represent women in a motivational and positive way?”
Click on “Submit” to make your vote count. Next month, we’ll report back on what our readers are thinking.

Last month, we asked:
“Do you think it’s fair for beachgoers to have to pay a price to enjoy the Shore?”
22% of you said, “Yes”
78% of you said, “No”
